BANK OF COMMERCE


Tom Wessel Construction Corp. was selected to construct the corporate headquarters and downtown branch of The Bank of Commerce.  The geographic location was such that the entire construction process was very high profile with frequent oversight by both the governmental entity regulating the process and the Owner  representatives.


Due to some unforeseen site compaction problems resulting from previous land use, vertical construction started later than scheduled.  However, since overcoming that obstacle, construction progress continued without disruption, despite both many interior and exterior design changes. Further, City requirements for reconfiguring traffic lanes and sidewalks along a major downtown thoroughfare required more than the usual coordination and staging.    

The result is a bank building that provides administrative offices and client areas commensurate with the clientele they serve and the area in which they are located.

BIOLOGICAL RESEARCH ASSOCIATES

Tom Wessel Construction Corp. constructed this ecologically-correct office building and detached field office (complete with entrance featuring a pond and bridge).  The facility was designed and constructed to provide an efficient complex for the headquarters of the environmental research firm.

CHURCH OF HOPE

This 50,000 sq. ft. church facility is situated on over 50 acres of land.  The first phase building houses an 11,000 sq. ft. sanctuary with state-of-the-art audio/visual equipment.  In addition, there are offices, classrooms and an area designated as a children's worship center with a small theater, sanctuary and "fun zone".


One of the outstanding features is the 150' concrete and steel tower featuring a lighted cross.

COURTHOUSE SQUARE

The new Owner of this property envisioned the renovation of a former auto repair shop/dealership/offices into an upscale office condominium.  Situated in downtown Sarasota within two blocks of the courthouse, it provided a perfect location, but lacked polish.

The Owner's vision was achieved.  With roof replacement, the addition of an elevator for access to a newly constructed tower suite, and extensive interior and exterior renovations, this facility is now inviting to professional tenants, and mirrors the style of the downtown area.


FOUNDATION PARK


A three-story, 27,000 sq. ft. office condominium building providing custom, signature office suites is nearing completion on a campus shared with the Community Foundation of Sarasota's distinctive headquarters. 


Tom Wessel Construction Corp., "known for their cost-effective work as well as their acute attention to finish work" was chosen by the Developer to build this complex.


The project features lush, tropical landscaping, concrete masonry construction with cementious tile roof, balconies, loggias and courtyards, upscale lobbies with mahogany paneling, granite floor accents and ample surface parking.

JOHN CANNON HOMES OFFICE BUILDING


When he made the decision to expand his office and develop a new facility in Lakewood Ranch, John Cannon selected Tom Wessel as his Construction Manager.  Although an upscale homebuilder with an outstanding reputation, Mr.  Cannon recognized the vast differences between the construction of custom homes and commercial facilities.


This three-story, 58,000 sq. ft. building houses John Cannon Homes offices, as well as the Design Center, which is the showcase of the luxurious amenities offered in his homes.  Meant to reflect the quality expected by his own clients, John Cannon's office building has become a focal point in the Lakewood Ranch business community.


THE LAKE CLUB

Tom Wessel Construction Corp. is privileged to have been selected to construct the magnificently-appointed amenities of the Lake Club -- a new development with more than 1,000 custom-built residences on oversized lots.     


       


In addition to construction of the gatehouse and sales center,  Tom Wessel Construction Corp. built the focal point of this development -- the $10 million, 16,000 sf, Tuscan-inspired clubhouse with day spa, steam rooms and sauna, large catering kitchen, and state-of-the-art athletic center.   There are sweeping stone staircases and extensive balcony areas -- all constructed atop a lakeside hill.

LAKE OSPREY EXECUTIVE OFFICE BUILDING

Tom Wessel Construction Corp. was selected by Lakewood Ranch to construct Lake Osprey Executive Office Building. The project consists of a three-story, 35,000 sf office building in Lakewood Ranch and is nearly complete. 


The design includes many over-sized windows, or curtain walls, French doors, and balconies.  The focal point of the building is the porte cochere, over which is situated one of the curtain walls.  Designed and built to include a bank facility and other professional offices, this project is located on University Parkway just east of I-75.

MAIN STREET OFFICE BUILDING

A unique challenge -- constructing a new building in an old, long-established neighborhood while making the building fit in as if it were from the era of those surrounding it. 


A remarkable blend of past and present is accomplished, providing office views overlooking the busy downtown area from a modern, efficient 4,000 sq. ft. building.  Designed by the Lawson Group, this building was home to Tom Wessel Construction Corp. for several years.


MILES MEDIA OFFICE BUILDING

 


A two-story, Class "A" office building, this facility provides the corporate headquarters for Miles Media Group.  Designed by the award-winning firm, the Lawson Group, the lobby consists of marble and granite flooring, natural mahogany paneling and incandescent lighting.


The building has state of the art communications technology.  Maintaining the required environment for the electronic equipment, Tom Wessel Construction Corp. completed this project on an accelerated schedule to accommodate the signature tenant's committed occupancy date. 


The developer, a firm that demands and recognizes attention to detail and the highest quality construction, is a continuing client.

 

NORMAN'S LIQUORS


 

                


Tom Wessel Construction Corp. built the original Norman's Liquors.  We were then contracted to build a second retail outlet in Manatee County.  The most recent project for Norman's was the 4,000 sf expansion of the original store.


In addition to the expected merchandise, these stores offer a unique cigar room where the inventory is kept in a carefully controlled environment.  There is also a wine room where the temperature must be maintained at a constant level.

THE SILVERSTEIN INSTITUTE

                                                                        


The Silverstein Institute is a unique, three-story medical office building providing physicians' offices, examination rooms, treatment rooms and research facilities.  The structure combines:

  • Glass block.

  • An exterior paint palette of three shades of blue and white.

  • Extensive landscaping.

  • A unique curved window.
  • Because of the nature of this particular medical field, there were rigorous specifications regarding sound/noise levels throughout the building.

    Once construction of the shell of this 20,000 sq. ft. retail center was complete, Tom Wessel Construction Corp. was contracted to build out five separate retail spaces.

    The Windsor is a 70,000 sq. ft., two-story assisted living facility in Lakewood Ranch boasting:
